Gurugram · Sector 54, Golf Course Road
Six towers of up to 38 floors on Golf Course Road means wind, big sky and a view worth keeping. We plan around all three.

What we know
DLF The Crest is six towers by Hafeez Contractor in DLF Phase 5, Sector 54, with roughly five hundred large 3, 4 and 5 BHK homes and the DLF Golf & Country Club next door. The homes are big, around 2,600 to 4,000 sq ft on the listings, and the balconies come with the thing that makes them hard to plant: height. Above the fifteenth floor the wind is constant, the afternoon sun arrives from the west with nothing to soften it, and the view, towards the course on one side and the Aravalli ridge on the other, is the reason you bought the flat.
So a Crest balcony is not a plant-shop problem. It is a wind, weight and sightline problem first. We use heavier, low planters that stay put, plants that are happy being blown about, and layouts that frame the view instead of blocking it. The designer checks which way your balcony faces and which floor you are on before suggesting a single plant, and everything we install sits on trays, because the floor below is somebody's balcony too.
Your space
Every plan starts with a free visit. These are the ideas we usually bring.
Low, heavy planters in grouped clusters along the railing line, with a tall anchor plant in the sheltered corner. Nothing light, nothing hanging outside, nothing that can take off in a March storm.
Teak deck tiles, two chairs and a low table placed where the view is, with planting kept below eye level at the railing and tall only against the wall.
Warm, low lights on a timer so the balcony works after dark, when the course is lit and the day's heat has gone.
Plants that last here
Above the mid-floors, plants dry out from the wind, not the sun. We use thick-leaved and grassy plants that bend, group them so they shelter each other, and set up self-watering planters so a weekend away does no damage.
A west-facing Crest balcony cooks from 3 pm in May and June. Succulents, bougainvillea, adenium and ornamental grasses take it; ferns and most indoor plants do not. A light bamboo screen on the hot side helps everything else.
Society water along Golf Course Road is often a mix of tank and bore supply and tends to be hard. We use a free-draining mix and flush the pots on Care visits so salts do not build up.
They find upper-floor balconies first. Dense planting at the railing, no exposed soil and the odd clear perch removed solves most of it without a net.
Society rules
We have not seen a published balcony rulebook for The Crest, so the designer asks your RWA before the visit. The usual high-rise rules apply everywhere we work: nothing hung outside the railing, no drilling into the structure, and every planter on a tray so water never reaches the balcony below.
What it costs
Starting prices include design, plants, planters and installation.

Questions
Yes, if it is planned for the wind. The mistakes are tall light pots, hanging planters and thin-leaved plants. We use low heavy planters, plants that bend rather than snap, and group everything so it shelters itself. Plenty of Golf Course Road balconies above the 25th floor are green; they just were not planted from a shopping list.
